Templeogue College Campus Masterplan

Templeogue College commissioned MOLA Architecture to prepare a Vision Strategy and Masterplan for its secondary school campus in Dublin. The study sought to define how the school could modernise and expand its accommodation to meet increased enrolment, support contemporary pedagogies and consolidate specialist sports facilities within a coherent campus structure. The process involved an active dialogue with the Board of Management, staff, students and the Spiritan Educational Trust, alongside engagement with Department of Education guidance and technical requirements.

The masterplan examined the existing buildings, circulation networks, access arrangements and landscape structure, noting that the campus had developed incrementally with limited legibility between academic, pastoral and sports functions. A series of development options were explored, ranging from refurbishment-led scenarios to more comprehensive new-build strategies organised around quads, courtyards or pavilions.

The preferred option proposes a consolidated new college building, improved arrival and vehicular management, enhanced outdoor learning spaces and a reconfigured sports precinct linking pitches, courts and sports hall. The strategy increases site capacity and introduces a phased delivery model on a more compact and efficient footprint, allowing the school to remain operational throughout construction. It also releases land to accommodate an additional SEN school and enhanced sports provision, demonstrating how strategic planning can unlock educational, social and spatial benefits within a constrained urban campus.
