Cherrywood L1W

Alongside their role as masterplanners, MOLA Architecture were appointed by Hines Ireland to design a major new urban centre within the Cherrywood Strategic Development Zone. The 15 acre site is envisioned as a dynamic, multi layered town centre that will bring together living, leisure and commerce at the heart of the community.

Working in collaboration with a number of international architects, MOLA led the coordination of a single planning application for a 2.1 million square foot mixed use development. The commission focused on two key sites, TC1 and TC2, which form the core of the town centre. Together they provide 30,000 square metres of retail space, 24,000 square metres of restaurants, cafes, leisure and community facilities, and approximately 800 new homes. These sit above two to three levels of podium and basement parking and service areas, ensuring both density and efficiency in design.

The planning application, developed in partnership with OMP Architects on the residential component, was submitted to Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council in October 2017, with a decision expected in early 2018 and construction projected to commence in the summer of that year.
