Abington

The site at Abingdon is a singularly attractive, tract of Residential zoned land (Objective A) sitting within an extensive and long-established residential neighbourhood at Shankill. It is a rare entity in this part of the city, a pocket of entirely undeveloped land, enclosed by a perimeter of mature trees and hedging, enjoying a particularly advantageous east-west orientation and views to Killiney Hill, Bray Head and the mountains. It also has immediate access to public parklands and tree lined avenues, and importantly to various modes of public transport including a DART station within 500 metres. 

The project is envisioned as a sustainable and attractive residential community that embraces the site’s natural assets and landscaped setting. It will deliver 198 well-planned apartments, offering a balanced mix of studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom homes to meet a variety of housing needs and set a new benchmark for medium to high-density living in the area. The design prioritises access to sunlight, open views, and greenery, creating homes that are both practical and uplifting. Architecturally, the scheme is calm and coherent, with façades that sit comfortably within the tree-lined surroundings. Subtle rhythms are achieved through a blend of vertical and horizontal elements, varied brickwork, full-height windows, and spandrel detailing, while a simple palette of high-quality materials ensures a refined, durable, and timeless finish.
